This new building for 145 sworn officers, located on Groesbeck Highway on a five-acre site. The building is one-story, slab-on-grade, steel frame with block and face brick wall, and white precast concrete fascia band.
The circular precast entry band carries through the interior lobby where the circular form permits controlled access to ten different building functions. The signage on the building exterior is prominent and citizens have no trouble finding this facility.
The building has a railroad track on the rear of the lot. In order to mitigate noise and vibration; less sound sensitive functions, range, storage, and garages were placed on the railroad side. The ranges is an overly wide (35 feet) combat type with a granular trap, down range absorbent side walls, running man target system, turning target system and is set up also for traditional target retrieval systems. A pair of large bullet resistant doors allows a police van to pull into the range.
