A new 27,000 sq.ft. building designed to serve as full line grocery store including food service, bakery, butcher, produce and all other grocery supplies. The facility includes refrigeration systems, extensive plumbing and drainage, HVAC and electrical systems, fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems. The food service portion of this facility encompasses a wide range of equipment regulated by the county health department.
The 26 foot high building is designed of steel frame and exterior masonry bearing walls with large areas of glass (curtain walls) on three sides inviting daylight, also, the exterior façade incorporates metal paneling and horizontal steel canopies that provide shade and signage support.
Dearborn fresh grocery store sits on a lot of land where houses with basements were demolished which required engineered fill and detailed foundation design. Moreover, the site is limited in area that necessitated the design of underground detention system for storm water, being adjacent to residential area and on the extremely busy Ford Rd. lighting and photometrics studies were performed to minimize light pollution.
